On March 27, in the framework of a 2-day country visit to Albania, the Practicians’ Network (PN) Members visited Polis University /Innovation Factory. The focus of the projects’ site visits was to observe concrete actions and initiatives of partners in supporting the digital economy and society in Albania with a special focus on skills.

As part of its mission to strengthen Albania’s innovation and start-up ecosystem, the EU4Innovation multi-donor-action implemented by GIZ and SIDA supported Albanian Universities in their endeavor to become more entrepreneurial. The Action also provided demand-driven consultancy and financial support to selected universities – UPolis being among the most prominent examples.

During the visit to Polis, the PN members had the opportunity to explore various labs in the university including the Makerspace-Innovation Factory substantially funded by EU4I. Additionally, the university rector provided a welcoming speech, while the vice-rector Dr. Elona Karafili presenting Polis University as a research-led university, mentioned a few projects powered by GIZ / EU4I the university is involved in such as ConnectIT, INNOVET, S.E.A.M, Tirana Inc., CCL-Tirana, that support the third mission of the university: generate knowledge outside academic environments to the benefit of the social, cultural and economic development.
