On behalf of the European Union, Germany and Sweden, EU4Innovation supported the Game Jam 2.0 Hackathon.
Building on the epic success of Game Jam Albania 2023, the second edition has once again exceeded expectations. Game Jam Albania is not just an event; it’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community. Participants with diverse expertise brainstormed, designed, and developed unique games over four days, all centered around a common theme.
15 regional experts from Albania and neighboring countries supported the participants to improve their know-how on game development. Various workshops and panels took place, covering different aspects related to creating a game: from programming, narrative, design, etc.
All teams had 48 hours to finalize their game prototype for the topic announced by the organizers: ‘Once upon a time’.
With a special prize of attending the prestigious Gamescom 2024 awaiting the winning team, the competition is fierce.
During the award ceremony, we were honored by the presence of the German Ambassador Karl Bergner. He applauded all the participants for their dedication and efforts in the prototypes presented.
Game Jam serves as a breeding ground for talent, fostering the next generation of game developers and industry leaders.
The jury awarded with the third prize Team ‘Patches’ that presented “The Tales Experiment”. It is a puzzle game where you traverse the hunting corridors of the Fairy tale experiment lab.
The second prize was awarded to Team ‘Artorias’ for “Quest for the Golden Jam”, a side-scroller game where you must travel through time to pass obstacles and retrieve the Golden Jam.
The first place, who also secured a spot at Gamescom 2024, was awarded to Team ‘Bayonetta’. They created “In memory of Guadalupe”, a narrative/story game about an exciting journey where you play as a granddaughter to honor the memory of grandmother.
