On 18 June 2025, the EIT Community Hub Albania brought together key ecosystem actors for an info-session and networking event dedicated to EIT Digital, marking an important step in strengthening Albania’s integration into Europe’s digital innovation landscape.
The event highlighted opportunities offered by EIT Digital, the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which focuses on digital transformation, talent development, and deep-tech entrepreneurship. By connecting local stakeholders with European programmes and networks, the session aimed to accelerate Albania’s digital leap and foster stronger collaboration across ecosystems.

Opening remarks and presentations from representatives of EIT Community Hub Albania, EU4Innovation, the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI), and EIT Digital provided participants with an overview of current opportunities, including open calls under the Digital Europe Programme. EU4Innovation highlighted its role in supporting Albania’s innovation ecosystem by facilitating connections, strengthening capacities, and enabling access to European initiatives.

A key highlight of the event was the interactive “Getting Closer with EIT Digital” session, which offered participants the opportunity to engage directly with EIT Digital’s regional leadership. Discussions focused on access to programmes, support mechanisms for startups, and pathways for Albanian innovators, students, and institutions to integrate more actively into the European tech ecosystem.

The event also featured a Showcase Carousel, presenting hands-on demonstrations of local digital talent and creativity. Participants explored interactive activities ranging from EU funding awareness tools to real-time computer vision applications and prompt-engineering experiments, reflecting the growing intersection of technology, innovation, and skills development in Albania.

In the final segment, a Fireside Chat Round brought together diverse voices from the ecosystem to discuss practical challenges and future opportunities. Topics included access to EU-level support for early-stage startups and the transformative potential of technologies such as 5G for public services and society.

By fostering dialogue, collaboration, and exposure to European innovation opportunities, initiatives like this contribute to positioning Albania as an active participant in Europe’s digital future. Through its support to ecosystem actors and partnerships, EU4Innovation continues to enable pathways for Albanian innovators to connect, grow, and compete in an increasingly interconnected digital economy.
